December 2019

Thank you for your prayers and financial support, due to your prayers, my ministry is thriving. The past month was the worst month of rain in Myanmar and caused many tropical diseases to hit Yangon City and parts of Myanmar.

I reached out to the surrounding areas and shared the gospel. I went to Taphazar Gone village in Htantapyin township and met with U (Mr.) Hla’s family. It was their first time hearing the gospel, they said, we like it but will think more about it. I also went to the Kyotaw village, Ukpheo village, and Ngiang Laypyin village and distributed tracts. I met some young people and shared with them briefly about the gospel. I pray for the Lord to continue to speak to their hearts so they may be interested in knowing more about salvation history.

  • Pray for the people who heard the gospel to be curious to know more and come to faith in God.

I traveled to the Takhun Daing and Yarzard villages and distributed tracts. I prayed for the people to come to know Jesus Christ and His salvation history. When I went to Padan village, I met U (Mr.) Zaw and Ma (Miss) Hnin’s family and shared the gospel with them. One old retired monk was there, and I discussed with him about Jesus and the creation of God. I compared the beliefs and perspectives of eternal life, contrasting Buddhism, and Christianity. I told him about the salvation history. The monk tried to explain the way of Buddha. Lastly, I shared John 14:6, where Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father except through me.” I will try to meet with them again.

  • Pray for another opportunity to meet these people and explain more about salvation and God’s Word.
  • Pray for them to understand salvation and their need for a Savior that is only through Jesus Christ.
  • Pray for God to open the hearts of the people that they may hunger for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • Pray for the daily survival and needs of the believers to be met.
  • Pray for my family.

June/July 2019

Greetings. I have traveled frequently to conduct our outreach ministry; I mostly went to the Htantapyin town and surrounding villages. No church exists in this area. First, I went to San Kin village in Htantapyin township and shared about Jesus Christ with U (Mr.) Win and U (Mr.) Aung’s families. I shared my testimony and experience of believing in Christ. They were interested in my sharing but did not respond to the gospel yet. We need to continue to pray for them. The next week I went to the same township but to a different village, the Phu Nat Pae village and shared about Jesus with U (Mr.) Tun and U (Mr.) Tin’s families.

  • Pray for Win and Aung and their family members to come to understand salvation.
  • Pray for the people who hear the gospel to have the seed planted in their heart grow and that they will be saved.
  • Pray for more people each month to be hungry for the good news and for their hearts to be open to hearing it.

I traveled to the Danuh Pheo township, Cung Siah village, and met one of my old friends from before I became a Christian and was changed by God’s grace. His name is U (Mr.) Htun; he lives with his family in Bu Tanat village, Delta area. I shared with him about how I became a Christian and about the living and true God. He was interested and asked me to tell him more and more. I went to their village again and stayed there two nights, telling him about God’s Word and salvation in Jesus Christ. I was thrilled that at last, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord. His children do not believe yet. Pray for them, that God may touch their hearts, and they will be saved.

  • Pray for Htun and his family.
  • Pray for Htun’s new faith to grow and for his testimony to his children.
  • Pray for his children to have questions, and be interested in the gospel, pray for their salvation.

I went to Takhun village, Hleku township, and met a small group of believers and some non-Christians. I had the opportunity to share the Word of God, encouraging the believers. I shared the gospel with those who were not Christians, and they were curious and wanted to know more about Jesus at another time.

  • Pray for an opportunity to return and share more about God.

I visited the Ngian Laypyin and Kyodaw villages in Htantapyin township and shared the gospel with several non-Christians at a believer’s house. I met one woman, Daw (Mrs.) Myih, who is the wife of a believer, U (Mr). Saw. Myih was a staunch Buddhist and worked as a government schoolteacher. She hates Christians, so their family life was complicated for many years. Many times, they wanted to get a divorce, but as they have two children, they did not get divorced. Myih came and listened to my sharing of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was touched and wanted to hear more. I revisited the family and continued to explain the salvation of Jesus Christ. After a few days, Myih accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Lord and Savior. Praise the Lord!

Myih shared her testimony. “I was a Buddhist, but I married a Kayin Christian. We have two children; they are not Christian nor Buddhist. I myself had decided that I would never change my religion to Christianity. Many preachers came and shared with me about Jesus, but I never accepted them, and I refused to listen to what they told me. I hated them, including Tin Maung Shwe, because he was a Buddhist who converted to Christianity. I was afraid my children would be Christians. This time was perplexing to me, Pastor Tin Maung Swe came and shared about Jesus with me twice. His sharing was clear; I was impressed and deeply touched in my heart to know the love of God and the salvation story. Now I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and Lord.” Praise God for her testimony.

  • Pray for Myih to grow in her faith and be firmly rooted in God’s Word.
  • Pray for her testimony to her coworkers and others in the community.

Give thanks for her salvation.

I brought some used clothes to Hnget Peotaw village in Taih Kyi township and distributed to those who were in need. I told a group of people about original sin.  Generally, this concept is one people do not accept. I shared Romans 5:12, “…by one man sin entered into the world and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” They did not find this easy to believe or understand. They discussed it and asked some questions. I answered them with examples, and finally, they were able to realize that all men have sinned and come short of the glory of God. I will go and meet with them again to share more about salvation. Pray for our conversation.

  • Pray for the group in Hnget Peotaw village as they wrestle with this concept to come to accept their need for a savior and come to faith in Jesus Christ.

My weekly church services are doing well. Since I was frequently traveling for outreach to the villages and towns, Pastor Hoi Ceu has been leading our weekly services. Praise the Lord.

  • Pray for our church members to meet faithfully and grow in their knowledge of God’s Word.
  • Pray for their daily survival and for their debts to be paid.
  • Pray for the pastor and his family.

April/ May 2019

Though I have been through many trials and difficulties, the Lord strengthens me and encourages me through His Holy Word. I praise God that I can witness for Christ. I know that it is because of your prayers.

During the past month, I shared the gospel in several places. I reached several families who live illegally in the field of Takhun Daing village in Hlegu township and are below the poverty level. I taught about salvation for an entire day to twenty-five Buddhists, no Christians at all. Many questions were asked regarding the way of salvation through Jesus, and I compared the truth with Buddhism. No one accepted Jesus at that time, but I pray for the Holy Spirit to work in their hearts continually so that one day they may come to faith.

  • Pray for the people in the field of Takhun Daing to consider salvation and come to an understanding of the love of God and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

During the water festival holidays, we conducted a combined gospel camping trip with the Gongtalapong church. James and Phoebe are ministering there. I was one of the teachers at the camp. I instructed a group of new people who joined the camping trip for the first time from many different places. I asked them if they understood what I was teaching and they said, we understand, but we need more time to study and think about it.

  • Pray for those who heard the gospel for the first time at this camping trip to come to faith.
  • Pray for those who are still considering the gospel to have all their doubts answered and to proclaim salvation.

I shared the gospel with two new families. Ko Min’s family lives at West Yayat village, Hlegu township. Ko Min asked me about gods, he said, “there are many gods in the world, who is the real one, true, living God?” I explained to him using example and comparisons that only Jesus Christ rose from the dead and overcame the power of death. No other of the gods could overcome death. Jesus died for our sins, and those who believe in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. Ko Min was impressed and asked me to meet him again and to tell his family more about Jesus.

U (Mr.) Myint’s family lives in Yee Kyaw village, Htantapyin township. They were attentive and listened as I shared. This was their first time hearing about Jesus.

  • Pray for these two families, Min and Myint, to come to an understanding of the love and grace of God shown through His Son, Jesus Christ.

February/March 2019

Thank you for your constant prayers and support. Due to your partnership, the Lord is opening doors for me to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with people who have never heard of Him before now. In January, I went to the Civic General Hospital in the Htantapyin township to donate blood for my friend, U (Mr.) Sein who was suffering from jaundice and needed a transfusion. After I gave the blood, I prayed with my friend. The man in the bed next to us requested me to pray for him as well, so I prayed with him and shared about Jesus who is the living and powerful God, able to heal every sickness. His name is U (Mr). Htay. Other people requested me to pray for them, and I had the opportunity to share the gospel message with several patients in the hospital on that same day.

U (Mr.) Htay was discharged the next day. He was thrilled that God had healed him. Htay is from the Tanphaya village, and I visited his home. He was excited to see me and shared about how Jesus had cured his sickness. He now believes in God as the true and living God who heals and has accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His wife also believes in Jesus, they are from the Karen tribe. I invited them to join the Sunday worship service at the closest Karen Baptist Church to their place.

  • Pray for U (Mr.) Htay and his wife to grow in their knowledge of God’s Word and their understanding of salvation. Praise God for His healing of physical illness.
  • Pray for Htay and his wife to stand firm in their faith and influence their children by their trust in God.
  • Pray for my friend, U (Mr) Sein, to recover from his sickness.

I traveled to multiple places to witness to the people. I talked with the families of U (Mr.) Augn, Ma (Ms.) Ohn, and Daw (Mrs.) Tin Tin. They were open to hearing the gospel and listened as I spoke, but they have not yet responded in faith or expressed trust in Jesus Christ. I pray they will study the salvation of Jesus Christ and one day come to faith.

  • Pray for the families of Aung, Ohn and Tin Tin to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

I went to the Htantapyun township and revisited the Tanphaya village. I shared the gospel with three new families, the family of U (Mr) Bong, U (Mr.) Tan and U (Mr.) Hlaing. They accepted my sharing and liked what I had to say, but we will see how they respond in the future as they have not yet expressed faith.

  • Pray for the families of Bong, Tan, and Hlaing to consider the gospel further and come to faith.
  • Pray for the daily needs of my family. God is gracious to His children and reminds us that He will always be with us.
  • Pray for my daughter as she studies in her second year of college.

December 2018

I pray that the new year brings many good things to you all. During the Christmas season, the Lord opened many more doors for me to reach non-Christians in the Arrawady and Yangon regions. By God’s grace, I traveled with some believers to the villages of Taman Kyi, Tamar Sakaw, and Khaloh Chait. We shared the gospel of Jesus Christ and showed the “Jesus film” in the Burmese language. People were intently listening and watching the movie. I pray that the Holy Spirit continues to work in the hearts of these people, so they would be filled with a desire to know more about Jesus and His salvation story.

  • Pray for the villages of Taman Kyi, Tamar Sakaw, and Khaloh Chait. Give thanks for the outreach ministry and the many people who heard the gospel.
  • Pray for the people I met and told about the gospel of Jesus Christ, pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to touch their hearts and give them light to see Jesus and receive Him as their personal Lord and Savior.

A few days before Christmas, we held our celebration and had many non-Christians join us and listen to my preaching. We counted one-hundred and seventy people, mostly our neighbors. Praise the Lord. On Christmas day, I was invited to preach at the Christmas celebration on my friend, Pastor Tin Muang Shwe’s, mission field in Yazat Gone village, Hlegu township. Many non-Christians heard the good news of salvation. The day after, I preached in Htanta Pyin town, my out-reach place. We have three new believers in the village. Praise God for opening the doors for the gospel.

  • Pray for those who heard the message of the gospel to come to salvation in Jesus Christ.
  • Pray for the new believers in Htanta Pyin town, to stand firm in the gospel and grow in their knowledge of and relationship with God.

The Testimony of Maung Wee Yan Min. He is a young man. When I shared the gospel with his parents last September, Wee opposed me and argued saying, “those who worship Jesus, worship a man killed by other men, he was not God.” When I visited their house in December, I asked Wee to discuss Buddhism, but he refused, so I talked to him about religion. I told him about the Buddhist god and their beliefs. Then I shared about Jesus who is the true and living God. He was impressed and wanted to know more about Jesus. He asked me for a Bible, and I gave him one. I pray that the Holy Spirit will teach him clearly about Jesus through his reading of God’s Word and that he may come to believe in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

  • Pray for Maung Wee Yan Min to read his Bible and accept Jesus into his life.

I went to the Yazat Gone village in Hlegu township again at the end of December and met Daw (Mrs.) Twe Moe and her daughter Khin Thita Win. They were happy to see me and shared with me, “When you preached at the Christmas celebration, we clearly heard and understood the message of salvation in Jesus Christ. We both believe in Him now.” They promised to worship only Jesus and to attend the church regularly. Praise the Lord.

  • Pray for the new believers, Daw Twe Moe, and Khin Thita Win, to grow in their knowledge of God and stand firm in their faith.

Pray for my church members to stand firm in the faith and for their daily needs to be met.

November 2018

Due to your prayer support, the Lord is leading my family as I seek to reach the people in the villages and cities in Myanmar. I talked with the families of U (Mr.) San Swe and U (Mr.) Hla Chit. They politely listened to the gospel and agreed with my words but said they needed more time to think and learn about Jesus Christ.

  • Pray for the family of San Swe to continue being interested in the gospel message and come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Pray for the family of Hla Chit to be willing to listen to the gospel again and be saved.

I also talked with U (Mr.) Mint Swee at Siot-gone Village Le-myat-hna Myone. He served as a monk for over fifteen years, then he resigned and got married. He is a leader, Kawpakah, in the village. He argued with me and rejected the creator and the creation account in Genesis. I tried to best to explain from the Bible using passages from Psalms, Genesis and the New Testament.  We discussed the topics for two days, and he was nearly convinced and converted to faith in Christ. I pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to work in his heart and that he will believe in Jesus Christ soon.

  • Pray for Mint Swee to continue examining the claims of the gospel and to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

I shared the gospel on two separate occasions with U (Mr.) Khin Zaw and his family members in Htantapyin town. The entire family changed and believed in Jesus Christ. They have not yet taken baptism but are attending the worship services on Sundays regularly.

  • Pray for the family of Khin Zaw to grow in their new faith and trust in God.

I met more people as I traveled sharing the gospel. I talked with the families of U (Mr.) Naing Win and U (Mr.) Puh. I did a one-day training in Twentee town, Yangon division and thirteen new people listened to my teaching on salvation. They were happy to hear my words, but no one has changed yet. We need to continue to teach there.

  • Pray for those who heard the gospel in Twentee town and for more opportunities to teach in this village again.
  • Pray for our Christmas celebrations in December.
  • Pray for the people I meet to hear the gospel and for the Holy Spirit to touch their hearts and give them the light to see Jesus and receive Him as their Lord and Savior.

August/September/October 2018

Greetings to all my prayer partners. I was away from my place at Yangon for a few months due to family business debts I sought to resolve. However, God is with me, wherever I go, I witness for Christ. I met several families as I traveled and shared the gospel with them. I met two families in the Yigone village and the Ngwe Khui village in Nattalin township, I met three more families. All the people I met were open to hearing about the gospel, but they said to me, “it is the first time we have heard about Jesus, so we need to take time and know more about Him.” U Myint Swee said, “I agree that I am a sinner, but how can Jesus forgive my sin?” I explained to him and told him about Jesus and his salvation for us. He still was stubborn and replied, “I think no one can forgive or save me from my sin.” It is not easy to convince him using an only human ability, but I know that God is able, and for Him, nothing is impossible.

  • Pray for the families Pastor Tin met with in Yigone and Ngwe Kui. Pray for them to understand the grace of the gospel and accept the gift of salvation.
  • Pray for my family debts to be resolved so I may serve the Lord without any hindrance or disappointment.
  • Pray for those who listened to go beyond just agreeing and to surrender their lives to Jesus Christ wholeheartedly.

I went to the Kyaut Sayit Gone village in the Htantapyin township and met three families. I shared Jesus with them, and they listened and said, “it is good.” I promised to revisit them and share more about salvation that is available for all people. They were eager to hear from me again.

I went to the Yigone village in the Pagu division and shared the gospel at U Win Htut’s house. His family invited their neighbors, and eighteen people showed up to listen. I told them about the way to eternal life and compared Christianity to the teaching of Buddha. They were happy to hear and liked what I shared. If God gives me another opportunity, I will visit and share the gospel with them again.

  • Pray for another opportunity to share the gospel with the people in Yigone village and for them to come to an understanding of salvation.

One man, U Mynit Thein was a Buddhist. He was brought to visit the church by Ko Htwe, a church member. I shared the gospel with U Myint Thein several times. At first, he could not understand the gift of salvation through faith alone. I explained repeatedly, and when he came again to the church, he had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He shared his testimony, “I was the man who refused Jesus Christ. My wife was a Christian, and I looked down on her because of her religion. But when I met Pastor Tin, he explained about salvation very clearly, and I realized that I was a sinner. I repented of my sins to God, and I know that all my sins are forgiven because Jesus Christ died for me. Now I have confidence that I have eternal life.”

Praise the Lord! Myint Thein was recently baptized.

Give thanks for the salvation of Myint Thein and pray for his growth as a new believer.

I met Ko San Swee at Htantapyun town last year. I shared the gospel with him several times, and he occasionally joined the worship service, but there was no change in his heart yet. One day, he unexpectedly was arrested and put in jail because the police suspected him of being a robber. We prayed for him, and he also prayed hard, after two weeks he was released and free to go. The judge found out that he was not the man they were looking for. Ko San Swee shared with us, “In the jail, I prayed hard to God; please reveal the truth to the police and the judge. I trust in you. I promised God that if I were discharged from the jail, I would worship Him for the rest of my life. After two weeks, the truth was found, and I was discharged from the jail. Praise the Lord!” Ko San Swee requests us to baptize him and we are preparing to do soon.

Give thanks for the salvation of Ko San Swee, give thanks that his innocence was found and that this experience caused him to rely on God alone and proclaimed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

  • Pray for his faith to grow as he prepares to be baptized.

During my absence, Mr. Hoi Ceu and my deacons led our weekly services. Pastor Thawng also visited to help with the weekly programs.

Give thanks for the leadership of Mr. Hoi Ceu and the deacons. Give thanks for the support of Pastor Thawng to my church.

  • Pray for the people I met and shared the gospel of Jesus Christ with, pray for the Holy Spirit to illuminate their hearts with the light to see Jesus and receive Him as their personal Savior and Lord.
  • Pray for the daily needs of my church members to be met and for their good health.

July 2018

I visited Hmabi township nearby Yangon City and shared the gospel with several people. Among them, one family U Soe Moe and Ma Cho Cho’s family were interested in what I was sharing from the Gospel. I discussed Christianity and Buddhism with them and they agreed with many points regarding Jesus and the contrast between Him and Buddha. U Soe Moe said,” Some time ago I listened to another pastor share about Jesus, but I did not accept his teaching but continued to think about his words. When you arrived at my house I was thinking about Jesus and if the things I was taught about Him were true. I believe that it was not by chance that you came and visited us, I am happy to hear the salvation of Jesus Christ again but need to take time to study more about Jesus and Christianity.”

Two weeks ago I was going to South Ukkalapah township, Yangon to evangelize. I met U Ohn Min, Ko Myint Aung, Ko Thein Lwin, and Ko Yaw Kyi and shared the gospel with them. They seemed to be interested and thanked me for sharing but they did not respond to an invitation to follow Jesus. I visited South Dagon last week and the Lord directed me to meet one couple U Naing Win and his wife Yi Yi Choo. They told me, they had not heard about Jesus and His salvation story before. They only had time to listen for one hour and then had to depart for an appointment. They thanked me for coming and asked me to come again when they had more time to listen. I took their contact number and will contact them again.

Spring 2018

(1) I felt blessed by all the home visit I was able to do the last few weeks. God opened doors and created opportunities for me to reach several families with the gospel. I went to Hlaingtazar township, Ui Kyaw village, Htantapyin township and shared the gospel with two families. I also shared in Ma Yinnge village and Nattalyn township in the Delta area. The people in these villages accepted my sharing, but they asked for more time to study about Jesus Christ.

During my visit to Letpankhung village, Moe Ngeo township, I shared the Gospel with Tin Tan who is a medical nurse. He was recently paralyzed down one leg and was not recovering even though he had received several different treatments. I shared with him that Jesus Christ is the great physician and told him about salvation and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I prayed for him for three days, and miraculously his leg was healed. I came back to see him, and he was full of joy, he accepted Jesus Christ as his own Lord and Savior. He is physically and spiritually healed!

This is Tin Tan’s testimony, “I suffered from a paralytic disease for six months and had treatments from several doctors and clinics. As a nurse, I tried to get the best treatments but wasn’t able to be healed. I started to call on the gods to heal me, I meditated and practiced my religion according to Buddhism, but nothing happened. I was disappointed and frustrated but most of all I felt myself losing hope. But that is when Pastor Tin Maung Shwe came and prayed for me FOR THREE DAYS! To my surprise on the third day I was completely healed. I am a sinner, a man who did many bad things, but God still loves me and healed me. I have confidence in God and am grateful for His gift of eternal life.”

(2) During the water festival holidays, we had a combine gospel camping at Insein Church and had around 80 to 90 participants. I went and taught the gospel for two days to some new people I met. They were five of them, and they listened carefully to every word I told them. They were happy to hear the message and are close to receiving Jesus Christ. I will continue to teach them and pray that they will believe and accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord soon.

I organized a gospel teaching at U Aye Kyaing’s house of Khaloh Chiat village in the Tweentee township. Twenty people listened to my lessons, and it was the first time hearing about Jesus and His salvation story. I compared Christianity with Buddhism, so, they said they understood what I was teaching. At the end of the lesson, they told me that they would think about what I said, and would study more about Jesus.

U(Mr.) Puh Au invited me to preach the gospel at his house, he is a Christian, but some of his family members are Buddhist. He asked some neighbors to join us, and I taught them about the way of eternal life through Jesus and contrasted that with the way of Buddha. U Puh’s neighbor U Win Htoo had professed faith in Jesus Christ when he was younger, but he fell away and returned to being Buddhist. He came to me afterward and told me, “I was a Christian, but I did not learn about what the gospel meant, my former pastor Swee did not teach that I had to surrender my life, repent, and turn away from my old lifestyle. I now understand that religion cannot save me but Jesus Christ alone.”

(3) I visited Hmabi township nearby Yangon City and shared the gospel with several people.

I met U Ohn Min, Ko Myint Aung, Ko Thein Lwin and Ko Yaw Kyi and shared the gospel with them.

Summer 2018

(4) Last week as I went out to share the gospel I met three people who I gave tracts and shared about life after death. I asked each one if they knew where they would spend eternity if they died, they were not sure. I pray and hope that they will think about what I shared and that the Holy Spirit would speak to them continually so that they will hunger for God’s word.

In our church, one couple Ma Malar and her husband Ko Htwe were very active in recruiting new people to join our home Bible studies and worship services. I young man named Hoi Ceu who graduated from Bible school also helps my ministry by leading our music and teaching programs for young people. The Lord has prepared leaders in my church, and I pray that they will be effective through the Lord to save more people through our ministry. Despite my members being poor and continually moving from place to place I was encouraged to know that they still stand firm in their faith.

December 2017

The month of December is the best time for reaching non-Christians. I had the opportunity to preach the salvation story. We did a campaign together with the Christmas celebrations at Htantapyin, Hleku Extended-town, and No. 23 Ward of Hlaingtazar. Many non-Christians listened to my message. The people that were there were interested in Salvation and what it meant. They requested that I meet with them. When I finally met with them, I explained how Jesus saved us, and I compared the Buddhist beliefs and Nirvana to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I met Ko Min and his wife, Ma Tadar in Hlaigtazar No. 22. They were a Buddhist family, but after I shared the gospel, both of them wanted to hear more about salvation. I also had the opportunity to share with three other people at Chaungta beach, one of them was a Driver, and the other two were a couple. I shared with them about salvation and eternal life. They liked what I was saying and asked many questions.

My overseer Pastor Thawng Nei Bil baptized two people on Christmas day. Their names are Mr. Tet Naing Oo and Daw San Yee. Daw San Yee studied Jesus for two years; sometimes she joined our worship service. Her husband and her three children are Christians, and they are married. Daw San Yee denied Christ for many years. But now the Lord has revealed Himself to her, and she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Praise the Lord. Mr. Tet Naing Oo studied Jesus and his salvation for one year and believed in Jesus Christ. He has two children. His wife is still Buddhist; we need to pray for her salvation.

During December, I visited twelve different villages and shared the Jesus film. I also shared a short message with the community. The people seemed happy to have seen the movie.

Prayer Request:

  • Give thanks to God for my Christmas season ministry, especially Christmas celebrations, showing Jesus film to 12 villages and reaching two couples.
  • Praise God for the conversion of two adults and pray that they may faithfully follow Jesus Christ.
  • Please pray for our New Years ministry, to reach more people.
  • Give thanks to God for my weekly services and continue to pray for us, we need to keep renting a house for our worship service.

Thank you very much for your prayer and financial support. It helps my family and ministry.

Yours in Christ’s service, Tin Maung Shwe

November 2017

I went out to evangelize at No. 13, Hlaingtazar township and met U Aung Mint, U Tant Yin, and U Saykyi. I told them the gospel, and U Aung Mint asked me, “If your God is living, please show me enough evidence, you say Jesus died on the cross for our sins, this is impossible, if we sinned we would receive His grace.” I then asked him, if you see God, will you believe? I gave examples, and I asked him questions, “Do you think that you have a spirit?” He said yes, and I told him to show me, etc. At last, he could not argue anymore. I told him, Jesus Christ died for your sins and the sins of the world so that those who believe in Him will have eternal life. After that, he thought about what I shared and asked to meet again.

I met some none Christians at our home bible study and shared the gospel with them. I also went to people who were living in tents at a squatters area in Hlaingtazar. I thank God that I could distribute several tracts and share the salvation history of Jesus Christ. Most of them listened to my sharing of the Word. We need to pray diligently for them. In Padan village, I met the families of Ko Kankyi’s, Daw Kayin, Daw Ohn, and shared the gospel with them. U Kankyi was not in good health, so I prayed for him, and he recovered his strength. He said to me, “I like and want to believe your God who healed me.” The second time I met him, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord! I hope that all his family members will believe in Jesus Christ soon.

During our Sunday worship service, we had some visitors who desired to learn about Jesus Christ. They were Ko Htun Min and Atema’s family who have now become regular attendees on Sundays along with their three children. They have begun to share the goodness of God by telling us of prayers they have made to God and how He has fulfilled their requests. (Editors note: Fulfilled prayers are important for Buddhists and ancestor worshipers who have not believed in a living God before.)

One of my Sunday school children who lives near my home joined our Sunday school and has been attending for three months now. Ih Thet Htun shared with her parents that I prayed for a man who was sick and hospitalized, a few hours later the man was completely healed. Her father was interested to hear this story. The family is attending school in Letpandan village, but want their daughter, Ma Ih Thet Htun to study in Hlaingtazar township because we have better teachers. They tried to get permission from the school for Ma Ih Thet Htun to attend however the principal of the school said that they did not have any more seats and could not accept her. Her parents are worried, but their daughter said to her Dad, let’s pray to God, and apply for admission again. They prayed several times and went to the same school and applied again and Ih Thet Htun was accepted immediately.  They were overjoyed! They tested God’s goodness to answer their prayers and have since become believes in Jesus Christ. Praise the Lord!

Prayer Request:

  • Give thanks for the heart of God in my ministry and the conversion of several people.
  • Give thanks to God for my weekly church services and my outreach ministry.
  • Please pray for my daughter’s higher education program.

I praise God that we get to work together for God’s Kingdom. It brings joy to my church members and I to know that while we are separated by a great distance, we have brother and sisters in Christ who are focused on spreading the Gospel and making disciples.

October 2017

Thank you for your prayers and financial support. I am humbled to have been chosen as a minister of the Gospel of peace to those in my Burmese tribe.

I visited Toe Chaung village, in the Htantapyin township and met U Win’s family and shared the gospel with them. It was their first-time hearing about Jesus, and they enjoyed the teaching but said they needed to study Him more. I also visited Chunkalay village, Hmawbi township and met U Aung’s family. I started by sharing my testimony of conversion from Buddhism. They were fascinated to hear the story of my transformation, so I continued to share the gospel of salvation. They asked several questions, and through the help of the Holy Spirit, I answered all their questions. Later that same day I met a group of young men and asked if I could share with them about Jesus Christ which they welcomed. Their names were Ko Naing, Ko Ni, and Ko Win. When I began to share about salvation, Ko Ni said, “Without doing good works no one can get good things, etc.” His friend’s chimed in and asked the difference between Godama Buddha and Jesus. I tried my best to answer them. It was a blessing meeting them and discussing Jesus; I believe the seed is sown in their hearts and one day it will root and grow and bear fruit.

I also had the opportunity to teach new people at Gongtalapong, Mingladone where James and Phoebe are ministering to Burmese people. I explained the scriptures and salvation, everyone was interested and seemed happy to be learning. Praise the Lord!

Prayer Request:

  • Give thanks to God for opening more doors for my out-reach evangelism.
  • Give thanks to God also for our weekly programs which are doing well.
  • Pray for my preaching and teaching of the gospel to new believers and non-Christians.
  • Pray for my church building, we urgently need it, or else our government may stop our worship service which is in a private house.

I praise God for working together with you for God’s Kingdom. Thank you very much for your prayer and financial support. It helps my family and ministry. May God bless you all.

September 2017

Greetings to you all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In September, by the direction of God, I shared the gospel with the family of Maung Nay Lin Htun and Ma Pheo Sein. I taught the good news of Jesus and compared it with the teachings of Buddhism. I spoke about salvation and tried my best to explain the difference. The Lord opened their hearts to understand what I was teaching. They are living in No. Hlaingtazar near my place and I visited them several times before they became interested in what I had to say. They responded that they genuinely believed in Jesus Christ. After a few days, they told me that their family business was also much better than before. They would like to get baptized soon, but I want to take time, and teach more about Christianity. They also want me to share with their relatives the gospel before they get baptized.

I also met several people and families in my out-reach ministry, I went and evangelized to Hlegu and met Ko Aung Soe and his family members where I had the opportunity to share the love of God. They liked what I taught about God’s word, but they are not ready to believe in God, they said they would continue to study the things I shared.

Prayer Request:

  • Give thanks to God for the conversion of Maung Nay Lin Htun and Ma Pheo Sein’s family members, pray that they will get baptized soon.
  • Give thanks to God also for our weekly programs, though the rain was very heavy sometimes, we continued God’s work for His Kingdom.
  • Continue to pray for permanent land for my church. We received warnings from authorities because we worship in a private house that we rent.

I praise God for your continuing prayer and financial support. It helps my family and ministry.

Yours in Christ’s service, Pastor Tin Maung Shwe

August 2017

The first week of August I led a one-day gospel teaching at Htantapyin town, where I have an outreach ministry with Mr. Kawng San, a member of my church. 23 people came and listened to our teaching. Some new people joined us, and I asked them what they thought of the message, and they said, “it is good.” The second week, I met people at their homes in Shwelinban nearby my place and shared the word of God and prayed for them. I also met two families and shared the good news at their homes. They are thinking about what I shared regarding Buddhist and Christian’s belief.

I also met Ko Thet Naing Oo and shared about Jesus Christ who is the Lord and Savior of all people. He was interested in what I shared, and after a few days he came back and shared his feelings, he said, “After I heard about Jesus, I challenged him by prayer, I asked Him for a motorcycle, which is my heart’s desire, amazingly Jesus provided one and answered my prayer. As such, I know that He is a living God because He fulfilled my prayer.” Ko Thet Naing Oo joined my church and has stopped drinking as well. Praise the Lord.

Ko Thun Nay Lin and Ma Phew Shin Kyaw, are a couple who also tested God through their prayers. Ko Thun Nay Lin said, “Pastor Tin Maung Shwe told us to consider eternal life, and since then we have thought about it quite a bit. The pastor said, Jesus promised eternal life to those who believed in Him.” The couple is still studying and thinking about what I said.” Let us pray for them.

Prayer Request:

  • Give thanks to God for my outreach ministry that is reaching new people and sharing the gospel with them.
  • Please pray for those who heard about Jesus that the Holy Spirit might impress on them and they will come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
  • Please pray for a new church land and building. It is a crucial need at present.

Yours in Christ’s service, Tin Maung Shwe

July 2017

We serve an incredible God who is in control, faithfully taking care of His children. In our local news, we have seen an increase in awareness for several diseases going around. Namely, they stress prevention for H1N1, H5N1, H3N2, and Dengue fever. The Lord is generous towards us, and thankfully no one has gotten ill. Praise the Lord.

I reached new people in four villages the first of which was U Win’s family at Khayan village, Tweentee township next to my home town. I tried my best to explain to them the Living and True God. They listened to me silently and did not ask any questions and provided no argument or rebuttal to what I shared. It is customary in Burmese culture to be silent and not engage with a teacher the first time he teaches. I will visit and share the Gospel with them again. The second place I visited was U Kan Kyi’s family in my town. I shared my testimony of my conversion and the salvation of Jesus Christ. They also listened respectfully but did not respond either. The third place in my journey was to MaYin Nge village, Natalin township in the Delta area where I shared the gospel with Naing and Win Aung. When I asked them if they would like to profess faith in Jesus and become disciples of his and they said yes! I wrote down their phone numbers to contact them. For my final visit, I invited Tan Zaw’s family to my home and shared the gospel with them. I asked them to come and join a gospel teaching program we are having in August as well.

I called Naing later in the week, and he told me a little about his life. He said, “I was a Buddhist and followed the traditional teachings of Buddhism. I knew that Jesus was a religious leader like Buddha. While I was working in Thailand, I heard about Jesus, but I did not know much about Him. From your visit I now clearly that He is a Living God who is a Savior for myself and all people.” Praise God for His testimony!

Prayer Request:

  • Give thanks to God for the testimony of Naing and pray that he may grow in the knowledge of God and stand firm in the faith.
  • Please pray for the salvation of those who heard the gospel.
  • Pray also for an increase in openings for the gospel in Myanmar.
  • Give thanks to God for our church’s weekly programs.
  • Please pray for a permanent place of worship for the church.

I praise God for your continuing prayer and financial support. May God bless you all.

June 2017

God is good toward His children all the time! Due to your prayers, my church is doing well.

I visited Ma Oo Pyin (Pastor Van Lal Rem’s church) where we had a one day teaching on the subject of salvation. Some non-Christians and new believers joined us. They were very studious and listened to my teaching attentively. In my evangelism, I met Ko Soe Moe’s family who are living in Tanyaung village, Hmawbe township. They said, they wanted to believe but also shared that, “We are active Buddhists, and it is not easy for our hearts to be changed, but we will take more time to study these things”. Let us continue to pray for Moe’s family.

The last week of June I went to Pyin Oo Lwin together with James and Phoebe’s church members for a retreat. Their church has several new people who have joined, and I had the opportunity to talk to Ko Phu and Ma Win. The Lord touched their heart, and they accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. Praise His Holy name.

Testimonies: (1) Ma Win said, “My husband is from the Chin tribe, he is Christian, and I was a Buddhist. When we were preparing to get married my fiance said, “I am a Christian and cannot marry a Buddhist.” I did not know what a Christian was and followed the teaching of Buddhism in my daily life. But I thought if I do become a Christian, I will understand it, if I seek it, I will find it, as such I never new that I was a sinner. I also did not know and never thought about the unconditional love of God. But now, I know that I am a sinner deserving punishment, but Jesus saved me from all my sins and gave me eternal life. I am fortunate and know that I am a believer in Jesus.” Praise the Lord.

(2) Ko Phu said, “Last May I began attending the salvation teaching in James church, at that time I learned about the love of God and the condition of human life. I came to understand that only Jesus can save people from the bondage of Satan and provide eternal life.” Ko said that he wants to get baptized. Praise the Lord.

Prayer Request:

  • Give thanks to God for the conversion of Ko Phu and Ma Win, pray that they may grow in the knowledge of God.
  • Please give thanks to God also for our weekly programs and my outreach ministry.
  • Continue to pray for our church that we may purchase land to build a structure.
  • Pray also for reaching more people with the Gospel, without prayer it is impossible to meet people and share the gospel with them.
  • Give thanks to God that my daughter passed her University entrance exam, it was because of your prayers.

Thank you very much for your continuing prayer and financial support. May God bless you all.

May 2017

In the first week of May, I traveled to Pohkhawng village, where we conducted two days of training on the subject of salvation. The people of Pohkhawng are of the Asho-chin tribe, a highly traditional people in their way of living and religion. They are made up of spirit worshippers and Buddhists. As a people they are respectful and reverent, they listened to all my teachings and asked many questions. They are open to the Gospel, praise the Lord.

In addition to this, I shared with two family members in the village of Sweelinpan nearby my home. They were Yin Khan and Ma Khan’s family. They listened and said that they need to study in more depth the things I taught them. I was invited by Kyaw Mint Htay (Kyaw Kyaw) a former White Fields church planter to teach a class at his church for two days to non-believers. I taught them about the way of eternal life and salvation. A man named Ko Win who is new to their church accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord. The last week of May, I traveled to Htaylin town where White Fields church planter Tha Khup established a church, this was the first church in that town. They invited many people from the community who are Buddhist, and I taught them for two days about salvation contrasting it with Buddhism. Praise the Lord!.

Prayer Request:

  • Give thanks to God for the three places I taught salvation. Give thanks to God for the conversion of Ko Win and pray for his spiritual life.
  • Give thanks to the Lord for continuing to sustain us and our weekly services.
  • Pray for the members of our church that they may grow in the knowledge of the Lord. Pray also for the opening of the gospel everywhere in Myanmar.
  • Pray that we can find property for a permanent place of worship.

Thank you for your continuing prayer and financial support.

February 2017

IMG_0083Bless all of you in the name of Jesus Christ; I hope that God will bless you with many good things in this New Year. I am joyful that God has chosen me to be His, and serve Him among my people.

I organized three gospel rallies in January at Gonetalapong and my church. I hosted two in my church January 6-9, 2017. Most of those who attended were non-Christians. In Gongdalapong, I started the training on January 1, and thirteen non-Christians came and listened intently. I taught about the teachings of Buddha and contrasted that with the teachings of Jesus. They were grateful that I explained salvation to them and wanted to continue learning more about who Jesus is. Praise the Lord!

Ma TeTe and Ma Nuai Nuai became believers in January 2017, both of them attended my church as visitors for several months and one day accepted Jesus Christ as their own Savior and Lord. Praise God!

Prayer Request:

  • Give thank to God for the two ladies who believed in Jesus.
  • Pray for them that they may continue to grow in trusting God.
  • Give thanks to God also for the weekly programs which are doing well.
  • Please pray for permanent land for a church building.
  • Pray that I may be able to host more gospel rallies it is one of the keys to reaching non-Christian.

December 2016

On December 16 our church had a Christmas celebration and hosted our International Director Steve Wheeler, his wife, and assistant Aaron. We were very excited to have them visit, Pastor Steve’s preaching encouraged and strengthened us significantly. Praise the Lord! Thank you as well to all of you for your faithful prayers for the ministry. In December I visited the families of Ma Htay and U Tan Tun and shared the gospel with them, they are not believers and was the first time they heard who Jesus Christ is.

IMG_0076I had the opportunity to share with the students at Hlaingtazar High School in Yangon who Jesus was; many had never heard of Him or why He came to earth. It was an incredible time of learning and very encouraging. I also visited Ko Mint Aung and his wife at their home and discussed the way of eternal life. Two days before Christmas I taught an evangelism class at my church, several members of my and eleven non-Christians came and listened. Two of the non-Christians became believers and got baptized on Christmas Day! Praise the Lord! Several other in the class are close to salvation, join us in praying for them.

Prayer Request:

  • Give thanks to God for the wonderful trip of Steve, Coral and Aaron in December 2016.

November 2016

I praise and honor God for giving me the opportunity to serve Him as a church planter among my people. May the Lord continue to bless my brothers and sister in Christ as they diligently pray for my ministry.

In October I traveled to the village of Asuhle near the town of Lapputta in the Delta area and conducted a one day Gospel teaching, eighteen people attended the teaching of which eight were nonbelievers. I taught about sin and salvation and compared these against the teachings of Buddhism. The nonbelievers attending showed interest in learning more and expressed their gladness at hearing the Gospel. My hope is that the Holy Spirit will continue to guide and teach them as they come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. On my return journey, I made appointments to share the Gospel with two households in Yangon; they were with the families of Mrs. Ni and Mr. Shwe Win as well as the family of Mrs. Ma Yin Nuh. In addition to this, I was able to meet with six other people and share the salvation story with them as well. During my visit with the group of six people five of them agreed to hear the Gospel but one Mr. Tin Win refused to listen. He said,” I believe that the Buddhist god is more powerful than other gods.” I did my best to explain the Gospel to him, but he was very stubborn and refused to listen to me.

Thanks to your prayers all of our new converts were excited to come and worship the Lord each Sunday at church. On October 9, 2016, they were all baptized and expressed great joy in being followers of Jesus. My outreach ministry in Htantapyin went very well of which I made mention in my last report. Praise the Lord.

Please earnestly seek the Lord for the following prayer requests on our behalf:

  • Give thanks to God for the weekly services and outreach ministry at my church.
  • Please pray for ministry during the Christmas season,
  • Please pray that all my members may have a real zeal for learning God’s word so that they may grow in the knowledge of God and become faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.
  • Please pray for my plan to visit Htaylin town to conduct a Gospel rally in November 2016.
  • Continue to pray for my daughter’s high school education program.

I would like to express my special thanks to you all for your faithful prayer and financial support. Thank you very much.

May God bless you all, Tin Maung Shwe

September 2016

Thank you all for your generous support to us here in Myanmar! In Myanmar, we covet your prayers very much, for when you pray we see the Holy Spirit answer those prayers! Our country is known as the “Golden Land” because of the many natural resources that are found here, we who are believers desire our country to be called the “Golden Land” for the number of believers in Jesus that will one day be found here!

img_8130For the last few weeks we have been moving into a new township named Htantapyin to plant a church, this was the next village in our strategy of reaching the people around us. As a part of our plan to take this city for the Lord we have been working on softening the hearts of the people. For the last two years we have sent a member of our church Mr. Kawng to this town to share the Gospel and pray for the people who live there. He has a very strong heart for evangelism. We mean having worship services the first week of August in a house we rented in town. During that week we had one whole family become believers in Jesus, they have been very excited to study the scriptures and learn about Jesus and His salvation! They are having a hard time taking the next step of baptism, pray that there hearts are encouraged to take this step of boldness. Praise the Lord for his faithfulness and goodness to us!

img_8129As part of my outreach ministry in the surrounding cities I have been able to share the gospel with many different people. In the Hlaingtazar and Inkapo townships I was able to share with Myint Khain, Ma Kethy, Yar Maung, Ko Win, and Taung Htay’s family. If you remember from my report in July I had shared how some of them had defended buddhism when I met with them, I was given the opportunity to share about Jesus and they were contemplating salvation. On this trip they continued to ask more questions about Jesus, since I was formerly a buddhist before becoming a believer I was able to explain the differences between Christianity and buddhism. Pray for these people as they decide whether to follow Christ!

Join us in praying for the following items:

  • Give thanks to God for a new house church in Htantapyin town and pray that the Lord may bless us and establish a new church there.
  •  Please pray for my daughter Ih Tayin, she is studying her high school level, pray that she may pass her examination with good marks.
  • I had a plan to visit Lapuatta town Delta area, and conduct a evangelism campaign in September 2016.

Thank you very much for your continuing prayer and financial support.  It allows me to provide for my family and do what I love!

May God bless you all, Pastor Shwe
July 2016

I want to praise God for His goodness, love, and care for us! May the Lord abundantly bless you, my prayer partners. I am grateful for your help.

I had conducted a gospel rally on April 8 and I taught about sin and salvation. Many had an interest in my teaching. They asked questions regarding Buddha and Christ, and I answered my best through the word of God. I hope that they may continue to be interested in knowing more about Jesus.

My outreach ministry progressed in the month of April; the Lord opened a new door for me to conduct a home cell program at a Buddhist house. They opened their house for a home cell program and were taught about the salvation of Jesus Christ. I will continue conducting the home cell in their house once a month. Praise the Lord! I also met two men who were retired Buddhist monks. I had discussed with them about the way of salvation, comparing the teaching of Christians and Buddhists. They had tried to defend their belief, but when I explained to them about Jesus, who is the only way of salvation, their countenance was changed.

  • Please pray that the Holy Spirit may continue to speak to the two retired monks that I met.

During the first week in May, through my outreach ministry, I had met various people and shared with them about the Living God and Jesus the Savior. Two people were interested in my sharing, U Tin and Ko Tet. Ko Tet asked questions about the Bible, and both of them asked several questions regarding salvation; I did my best to answer them. In the second week of May, I shared the gospel with Ko Aye and his wife Ma Myint Myint. Both were interested in knowing about the salvation of Jesus Christ. In the third week of May, I met three young men who were close friends. I discussed God with them for two hours, and then invited them to join our worship service. It was very good that they all joined us on Sunday. In the last week of May, I had the opportunity to visit several families. I shared the gospel with the families of Ma Htay and Ko Zaw. Ma Htay and her family members accepted my sharing of the gospel. They invited me to conduct a home cell program at their house. Praise the Lord!

I conducted a gospel campaign on May 21st. We had eighteen people come, half of them were Christians and the rest were new people (non-believers). I was thankful that the new people had an interested in hearing about salvation.

  • Please give thanks to God for the family of Ma Htay, and pray that they may be baptized soon.
  • Please pray continually for my outreach ministry and for my sharing of the gospel with new people. Pray that the Holy Spirit may empower me.
  • Please pray also for my church (Bethlehem Church), that it will grow.
  • Please pray for the salvation of Maung Tan Lin and Ma Sanda.
  • Please pray for provision in buying some land for the church, as we can really use it for our worship service.

Thank you for your continuing prayer and support for my ministry. It is very helpful for my ministry and my family. May God bless you!

Yours in Christ’s service,

Pastor Shwe

December 2015
SHWE_CoupleConverts_12.15

A new couple who recently accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior.

New Year Greetings to you all! Your prayers are very effective to my ministry. The first week in December, I had reached Maung Chit Ko and his wife, Ma Maw Maw, and shared the Gospel with them at their home. The Lord touched their heart, and they were interested in hearing more about salvation, so I shared God with them many more times. They accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior! I also did meet with another couple, Ko Pyangkyi and his wife, and shared the Gospel with them as well.

Please give thanks to God for Maung Chit Ko and Ma Maw Maw, who converted to Christ.

  • Please pray that they will grow in faith and in trusting God.

On December 19, we celebrated Christmas together with my neighbors and co-workers. We provided Myanmar style noodles called Munt-hin-kha. About 50 people attended our worship service, and not less than 100 people joined the fellowship lunch. It was encouraging for us that my overseer, Rev. Thawng Nei Bil, came and preached the Christmas message effectively. I was invited and preached the Good News at a church in Shwelinban. There were about 100 people from Buddhism that attended the meeting.

SHWE_MaMarlarTestimony_12.15

Ma Marlar shares her testimony.

Please give thanks to God for our successful Christmas celebration.

  • Please pray for the maturity of the members at our church.
  • Please also pray for new land for the church; my neighbor is currently selling land. Please pray for it, for with God, nothing is impossible.
  • Please do continue to pray hard for me and that the church would be firmly established.

Thank you very much for your continuing prayer and support. May God bless you!

Yours in Christ’s service, Pastor Shwe
