Pastors serving in the rural villages should not be alone.  That’s why our ministry team works diligently to provide the connection between our North American prayer and financial partners and the national pastor starting new churches in their country.

Stephen Wheeler, Executive Director

Steve’s family heritage of seven generations of missionaries forged his deep commitment to foreign missions. His great, great grandfather was the guardian of Mary Dyer, Hudson Taylor’s wife. They were missionaries in China together. Steve grew up sitting at the table hearing missionaries declare the struggles and deliverance of God in their missionary ventures. Steve’s parents invited every missionary speaker at their church to dinner in their home. This upbringing tremendously impacted the formulation in Steve’s mind that the gospel is to be proclaimed in the farthest places of the earth.

Steve’s parents supported White Fields Ministry while he was growing up, so he is a second generation partner to the national pastors. When he began college in the late 70’s he was immediately drawn into youth ministry, later served as an associate pastor, and then was a senior pastor for ten years. Being in the crucible of full-time pastoral ministry gives Steve the ability to come alongside our national pastors with empathy and understanding for the task that is before them in starting a new church.

Nearly four decades of ministry experience has increased the intensity that Steve has for spreading churches into the hardest to reach places. When he walks with our pastors into their communities plagued by poverty, darkness, and evil, he is more deeply moved to establish a network of pastors supporting and proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ. Through the gospel, these local churches transform the lives of a new believer, and the entire community is wholly transformed by their witness and testimony.

Steve’s wife Coral also has a rich missionary heritage. When she was young, her parents served in the mission field of South America and they worked together as a family to plant a church in the North County of San Diego. Her father served as Director of the Christian Serviceman’s Center in Oceanside for twenty years.

Together, Steve and Coral have raised four children, all adults now and actively involved in their local churches.

Aaron Stoner, Media Communications
Phone: 760-846-8610

Aaron began working at White Fields in early 2015. From a young age, Aaron went on short-term mission trips working extensively in Asia, South America, and Europe. At his home church in San Diego, he worked in the media department, overseeing volunteer teams and the production of Sunday services. In 2012 he moved to the North County of San Diego supporting the pastoral team of a local church plant. Aaron’s work with national pastors in extremely poor communities gave him a good foundation to assist in expanding White Fields’s support for national pastors.

Sarah Owens, Communications
Phone: 760-846-8610

Sarah is a church planter’s wife and mom to two kids. She is involved in different ministries of the local church, such as teaching youth, young adults, women’s discipleship and has also served on the board of PWF (Pastor’s Wife’s Fellowship) in San Diego, encouraging and ministering to senior pastor’s wives. Sarah earned a degree in Graphic Design, with a minor in Film, that grew from a background in fine arts. She has a heart for reaching the lost through art.

Ray Owens, Go Coordinator
Phone: 760-846-8610

A passion for spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ drives Ray Owens’ life. He has fervently engaged the global mission of the church since the earliest years of his ministry. Ray’s calling into full-time Christian work began at the age of twenty after attending a youth camp called Rock~N~Water. In 2002 Ray graduated from Liberty University and has continued in ministry ever since. In 2002 Ray married Sarah; they are the parents of two children, Isabella and Levi.

The Lord called Ray and Sarah to plant River Church in San Marcos, CA.  Four years after launching that church they merged into a single congregation with Generation North in Oceanside. Ray is now the lead pastor at Generation North and has taken on the Short Term Mission coordination for White Fields.

We are excited about Ray’s leadership in the mobilization of our American partners that desire to visit one of our churches overseas.

Our team of translators and editors around the world prepare the prayer reports published on our site. You can partner with us in prayer when you intercede for these pastors and their churches.
